Inktober Day 3 (2020): Vernonia (Ironweed)
We have several species of Ironweed in the Southeastern U.S. I'm not sure which one this is, but it was a pop-up; Vernonia augustifolia certainly self-sows readily and in a year with lots of volunteers -- well, plenty of opportunity.
It was my subject for Day 3 of Inktober. Hmm, I tried to draw the glass that I'd put the sprig in -- yikes, that's a lot harder to do.
But I felt like I conveyed the spirit of the ironweed flowers, so I'm pleased.
I'm a bit challenged with iPhone photos of my drawings, but whatever. The subject and drawing photo - well, that's what Inktober is about. Doing a drawing everyday and showing up to do it.
A lovely flower and a lovely drawing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lauren. I'm enjoying it.
