Inktober Day 18: Dryopteris frond (a wood fern)

I'm not sure why I collected a fern frond this afternoon to draw. I thought it would be fairly straightforward, but it turned out to be fascinating as well as challenging.

I hadn't actually looked closely at the structure of these fern fronds before, but these have colonized the lower part of the sedum bed; they're lovely and welcome.
