Heirloom apples

I just posted about heirloom apples on Natural Gardening, prompted by an email inquiry. 

It's always nice to think about apples.

I was reminded of a mid-September post here about German heirloom apples and the community orchards near Staufen, a nearby town. 

Here was a selection that we collected from the "free-for-the-taking" orchard.
