A snow day in Quebec
So glad to have a cozy house and no need to go anywhere. Even a small amount of snow shuts things down back in North Carolina, but this amount of snow seems to be a real snow day in Quebec, with blowing snow and accumulations of 5-8" today, and about the same amount more overnight.
The traffic on the nearby highway has now dropped to almost nothing (very unusual) as the winds have picked up and the intensity of snow has increased. The hilly ridge across the road is barely visible as it becomes slowly dusk.
The snow now almost covers the fences along drift lines; these fence poles are just barely visible in the western view from the living room.
The snow blows with the winds, now gusting at 20-30 mph.
A short video shows a bit of it.
Winter storm Harper has settled in and will continue overnight, with additional accumulation of snow. The snowplow truck came to our small road for a pass-through of one lane mid-day, and has just come by again now in late afternoon.
I guess stores are open with minimal staffing? I certainly wouldn't think people would be going out in conditions like this, if they didn't have to, even when they're used to winter and snow.
