More about bears: BearWise basics

It's been interesting to learn more about Eastern black bears in North Carolina -- and more about the BearWise program, which helps people learn how to coexist with them.

I just wrote a post on BearWise basics on my Natural Gardening blog:  I'm interested in promoting harmonious living with bears as part of my gardening and wildlife programs in the future, as well as encouraging neighbors and community members to do so as well.

I'm attaching the BearWise basics here, too.  There will be more posts about bear ecology in the future....it's actually a fascinating comeback story across the Eastern U.S., apparently as forest habitat and diversity has recovered.
