Finally a bit of real fall
I was intending to do a watercolor drawing of these leaves.
I didn't manage it, as I spent a couple of hours visiting a plant collector's garden this afternoon and came home later than expected. His garden had a wonderful setting, up from the Blue Ridge Parkway, near the Folk Art Center. The surrounding views of the ridges and mountains nearby were lovely -- full of yellows, browns, and a tint of red.
It hasn't been an outstanding fall color this year, for sure.
But these scarlet oak leaves are beautiful.
Perhaps, I'll have time to do a drawing tomorrow.

Beautiful! We went south on the Parkway today. It was beautiful, but at the higher elevations the wind has taken most of the leaves. The color won't be around much longer. We love the Folk Art Center - such riches of craftsmanship.
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky to have at least a bit of color this year, after all. The red maples have been glorious in town, with their red, yellow, and oranges!
