Thinking about a sense of place

There are so many good things about being back in North Carolina, even as I think about how special it is to have the opportunity to be in Quebec in the summer and early fall.

We came back to milder temperatures, so didn't have to experience the heat of September, but still see the consequences of ongoing drought in late summer and early fall.  Lots of weedy volunteers, though, from the early summer rains!

We went over to Biltmore Estate this afternoon and walked along the French Broad River -- lovely.  This is a favorite winter view from a couple of years ago.

We're determined to be "tourists in our town" while we're here;  this is a wonderful place, and our experience in Quebec, although great, too, is peaceful, nature-oriented, and quiet.  Having access to great restaurants, outings, group meetings, volunteer activities -- well, that's all good when we have the opportunity.

A new friend asked about photos of Asheville via text, as she'd never been here, after sharing some lovely photos of snow cloaking evergreens in her high-elevation home outside of Aspen.

She probably didn't expect the links to blog posts that I sent.

But they were some recent ones that I enjoyed revisiting, and shared with her, and thought I'd share here, too.

  1. It is wonderful when we can appreciate where we are with a connection to our land.
