Traveling “home”
I think of Asheville as home, but increasingly think about Quebec (in Le Bic, Bas St. Laurent) as home, too, as we’ve now spent almost half the year in each place.
I’m not sure how that really settles in, as I love being able to teach classes and encourage folks around plants in landscape consultations, and it’s hard to do that in Quebec, with a very rudimentary French ability.
Geez, I wished I’d studied French in college, now; but, studying German has brought great rewards, too, including an excellent HomeExchange visit in Freiburg a year ago September, where I could actually communicate with folks!
So, I’m determined to focus on increasing my French conversational ability as we return to Asheville for the fall.
