An old Quebec schoolhouse
Our house in Quebec is an old schoolhouse, too, built in 1910, and probably a functioning schoolhouse through the mid-20th century. Most of these rural Catholic schools were closed by 1960, or so, at least that's what I remembering from what I read, helped by a link from our neighbor.
Our house was converted to a "regular" house sometime after that, although it's hard to read what conversions happened then, with considerable additional renovations 15 years ago.
This schoolhouse outside of the village of St. Fabien is simply bearing witness to the past.
This was my whimsical Inktober version of my gardening companion's photo (the color in the drawing has been totally transformed by my iPhone); the photo appears below.
