I've been determined to make more rose hip/apple jam (even if the preparation is tedious), as it's totally delicious, especially if I wild-forage exactly the right feral rose hips. The ones on the beach in St. Fabien-sur Mer are great -- that's for sure, as are the ones near the tea house in the national park nearby. The ornamental ones that have been planted more recently -- well, they're not always so tasty.

And the crab apples, from an unharvested tree along the beach road, too -- it's hard to think harvesting them is not okay. Whomever planted this tree isn't harvesting them anymore.

And our own apple tree is providing more apples than I know what to do with. Some of these will turn into apple bars to share with our neighbors tomorrow, but the rest -- hmm, more applesauce for the freezer, I guess!
