A walk down the road

An excellent aspect of "being in the country" as our neighbor says, is walking down the road.  The farm fields above our house are lovely.  At this time of year, they've been harvested for hay and silage;  this one is showing the stripes of harvest.

Above the road beyond our house (thanks to my gardening companion for the image)

We're not exactly in the "country" in terms of modern life  --  being right next to the highway and the railroad, but we're in between the two nearby villages of Le Bic and St. Fabien, with nothing but scattered houses and farms around us. So we're close enough, I guess.

Parc National du Bic stretches the length of the span between the villages across the highway, providing a wonderful meadow and forest view from our living room windows.

I'll miss being here in the "country" returning to our historic urban neighborhood in Western North Carolina.  But it's a great place, too.
