A fall marsh view

Signs of fall are everywhere now, even as full fall color is weeks away.  The marsh grasses have turned golden, the rose hips are softening, and the final haying and harvesting of grains is almost past.

The corn in the fields above our house, however, has benefited from the rains in September, and the farmers should be able to have a decent harvest, it looks like.  Our neighbor down the road has now harvested his sorghum - a silage crop here.

And the stream of tourists has dwindled on the nearby highway, although there are still plenty of visitors to our nearby national park.

A visit to Havre du Bic in late afternoon, as I was collecting crab apples, found this wonderful view.

And we enjoyed the crab apples as part of some home-made apple walnut date bars with coffee this afternoon.

I'm intending to learn how to make crepes, too, inspired by these Breton-style ones, at a lovely cafe in St. Antoine-de-Tilly on Sunday.

They're not really as big as they look in the photo!
