A blustery day
A day spent largely at home, having things fixed, cleaning the house, and getting it ready for winter (with weather stripping, door fixing, etc.) had us busy. It was an usually rainy day; we experienced rain more like the thunderstorms that we have in the Southern Appalachians (and other places in the Southern U.S.) than what we've seen this summer so far.
Heavy rain in the morning was followed by lightening skies; then coming back from shopping in Rimouski, I passed through another very heavy rain cell, unusual for here.
The forecast is for cooler weather over the next couple of weeks. It may not turn "warm" again before we head south.
My hometown of Austin, Texas had the 2nd warmest August on record this year. 27 or so days at 100° F or more out of 31 days. Ugh. My Dad and Nancy (his wife) are fortunate to have spent the summer outside of Quebec City this summer, instead of Austin!
We're totally fortunate, too, living in this wonderful part of the world for the summer and planning to be back to "cherry-pick" winter, too.
Our home city of Asheville, North Carolina averages highs of 80° F- 85° F in the summer, often somewhat cooler, compared to the low to mid 70°s F that we have here. When we had temperatures in the upper 70's to low 80's for a couple of days, well that was a major heat wave.
No evening outing tonight, but here are a couple of images from last night's outing.
