A trillium appears
I've been meaning to do a post about all of the wonderful native spring wildflowers (and shrubs and trees) that we're enjoying in our garden and even took a number of photos a couple of days ago, but have been distracted by other things.
But, I'm truly grateful to be surrounded by our naturalistic garden full of native plants in these times.
Our small house here in the mountains of Western North Carolina is nestled within a garden landscape now full of natives with a restored woodland forest in the slope behind our house. It's magic right now.
My gardening companion is responsible for planting almost everything large in our landscape, aside from the perennials in the pollinator garden in the front, and my vegetable garden beds, although we share decisions about placement, additions, and deletions - so we're co-gardeners, to be sure.
He's amazing. And he's created a wonderful space for us to be at home.
Our garden is especially comforting now, as we can't go to favorite hiking trails or visit our favorite native plant garden here, nor go to other favorite places, as we're limited to essential trips and neighborhood walks, as almost everyone is in the U.S. right now, but I'm so grateful that we can watch spring unfold with the succession of natives in our garden.
Today's appearance was Trillium grandiflorum (Great White Trillium).

Our Red Trillium have emerged, but I'm still searching for signs of the grandiflorum.
