A beautiful crossvine
Our neighbor has planted a small pollinator-friendly patch in her garden, in one of the few sunny spots. She has a lovely garden; we particularly admire her fence edge plantings They’re remarkable and welcome.
This crossvine (Bignonia caproleata) was a recent fence addition and is hopefully providing a bit of sustenance for ruby-throated hummingbirds now heading north through our region. A female checked out our kitchen window a couple of days ago, perhaps attracted by our red buckeye, then noticing the Anthurium — inside the window.
Our hummingbird feeder has been up for awhile, although its primary beneficiary so far has been a young black bear — hopefully, the hummingbird had a quick drink there, too.
