Being at home

Click on the video above for a brief snippet of great music.

We're here in our mountain city in Western North Carolina this December.

A wonderful historic church
The holiday season so far has included our historic neighborhood's Holiday Tour of Homes, a visit to Biltmore Estate with a friend, several holiday parties, and now a lovely concert this afternoon at a historic church that I didn't know about.

It's St. Matthias, an Episcopal church -- over 150 years old.  I didn't know its history: it's in a historically African-American community, so I wasn't really surprised to learn that it's the oldest African-American congregation in Asheville, although I wouldn't have expected that based on the attendance this afternoon.  It's now a multi-cultural church.

All of us attending the Musicke Antiqua this afternoon were able to enjoy their excellent music in a lovely historic church.

Their stained glass windows were lovely. This shot doesn't do it justice at all.
