Oyster mushrooms: more Quebec foodways

At a short trip to the market in the nearby village of Le Bic, I spotted these oyster mushrooms, while looking for more conventional ones that were fairly fresh.  These looked great, so I bought some.

They seemed vaguely reasonable (I don’t normally buy oyster mushrooms in North Carolina, as even though they’re available they always seem expensive!).  But with the U.S. dollar quite strong right now, a package was about $3 U.S.  They appeared to be grown by a local producer, so I thought why not?

Looking at their facebook page, it appeared that they were members of an agricultural cooperative of some sort.

And looking at their location, it turns out their mushroom farm is about 1 1/2 hours away, east of here, into the Gaspesie.  So nice to see that the small grocery nearby (part of a regional group of small markets) is carrying their mushrooms.

Our market in Le Bic benefits from the parc national du Bic visitors;  on a winter Saturday, there were folks shopping who clearly were staying in the chalets and yurts in the park, as well as locals and probably weekenders, too.

It was a warm day, about 32° F, so there were lots of folks in the park when we were out on our x-c skis.
