Our vintage stove
Our cottage in Le Bic, Quebec is an old school house, renovated most extensively by the second owner, an antique dealer.
We have him to thank for our vintage stove (as well as all of our lovely Quebecois pine antiques, which we acquired, along with the house. He restored the lovely vintage stove that now anchors the living room.
It’s a Belanger President model from 1929. It was manufactured in Montmagny, a place about an hour from Quebec City (and two hours from where we live).
I don’t know what condition it was in when the former owner bought it, but it’s lovely now, and puts out nice heat. Not enough with our old wood (also acquired with the house) to bake bread in the oven (I’ve yet to see temperatures above 300°F), but perhaps we could cook on the stove top, with one of our vintage cast iron pans.
Regardless, it’s a wonderful stove.
