Cross-country skiing

We cross-county skied many years ago as college and graduate students.  This was vacation recreational skiing, although we did acquire skis and leather x-c boots along the way.

This was close to 40 years ago.  More than that for my college x-c ski excursions.

So buying new x-c skis and modern boots yesterday started a new adventure.

Thankfully, the regained skills (and muscles) from our Altai-Hok hybrid skis translated and we had a lovely time out in our nearby parc national du Bic, in spite of 0° F temperatures.  There are nicely groomed x-c trails in the park and many greenways and park spaces nearby, which prompted our venture back into traditional x-c skiing.

Our skis are incredibly light in weight, waxless with skins for grip, and with modern high tech boots — well, it was a whole different experience than 4 decades ago.

And the experience of being in the park -- winter or summer -- whether we're on skis, bikes, or walking, is always wonderful.

I'm totally tired tonight, but in a good way.
