A snowy start
Our drive north started with snow over the pass from Asheville to Johnson City, TN (first with a full rainbow and then with a spin-out jack-knifed truck crash.). It then was punctuated with alternating rain and snow showers; fortunately, I’d previously booked coffee with a friend this morning and my gardening companion had an early appointment, so we didn’t leave at the crack of dawn, as we often do. It kept us behind of the storm.
There were lots of traffic delays along I-81, caused by accidents; some were evident, others were cleared by the time we passed through, but we had at least two hours more on the road than we’d expect in better weather. Thankfully, the road conditions improved and the snow and rain stopped.
In a traffic delay, I took iPhone photos of the Shenandoah Mts and the valley surrounding us.
