Southeastern U.S. night sounds

I posted this piece about the nocturnal symphony that's a touchstone of our southern summers in Natural Gardening,  but it's equally meaningful as a part of a sense of place.

The sound of southern summers is something that's special;  you don't hear it in the same cadence or rhythm elsewhere in the world, although there may be lots of night sounds!

The full moon is coming.  I'm waiting for it.
