Our neighbor, on our short one-way street, came by late this afternoon with a boxed dinner.

A caterer, with a previously quite thriving business,  she was closing it, she said.

At first, I waved away her son, saying we had plenty of food, but then realized as she visited our neighbors across the street, what she was doing.

I went out and told her - thank you.  And we took her food;  she said didn’t want to throw it away so she’d wanted to provide dinners for her neighbors, and so we enjoyed her boxed dinner of Cajun fried  fish, potatoes, and coleslaw, which was delicious.

In the meantime, I’ve been adding compost to our vegetable beds, changing what’s planted, and sowing more seeds.

Overwintered kale
Part of the process was harvesting overwintered kale about to bolt.  It’s delicious.
