The comfort of neighbors

We live on a one-way street here in Asheville.  It's a tightly packed street, so we know all of our neighbors, some better than others. We're more friendly with some than others, but that's OK.

It's been a joy to exchange the gifts of holiday cookies for homemade fruit-rich whole-grain sourdough bread, and have our young neighbors across the street, bring us a homemade white-bread loaf today.

It's turning into French toast for tomorrow.  It'll be lovely.

My own bread (homemade) turns to loaves like this.  Lovely whole-grain loaves full of dried fruis and nuts.

    1. You're so right. It's been heartwarming to have these small gifts pop up along our street.
