Havre du Bic and snow geese

I'm still trying to distract myself from the damage to our mountain city of Asheville, NC, not very successfully. I mourn and worry every day.

I am privileged indeed to be here in Quebec in our cozy warm cottage. We'll return Asheville in a week and a half to two weeks, depending on the weather.

A bright spot was a visit to Havre du Bic this afternoon.  The snow geese had settled in, the light was wonderful, the wind was brisk.  Quebec in the fall.

  1. I've always wanted to see a snow goose. Many years ago I read a little book about a pair, their journey, the death of one and the faithful mourning of the other. I have tried to find this book, to no avail. Last year while visiting a friend in London, I was browsing through a bookcase in a hallway. Lo and behold, I pulled out the very book. A first edition - she was so amazed. First that I even knew of the book and most of all, that of all the books in her home, I found that one.
