Thinking about Quebec

In normal times, we'd be back in our cottage in Quebec this summer.  But these times aren't that.

I've been revisiting posts from the two summers and last winter, as I'm copying and pasting text into Word documents, a laborious, but necessary task, apparently, to work with the prose and photographs going forward, before putting together some sort of e-book/print book.

I don't really need to put together any sort of book, but it still strikes me as an interesting project.

And, it's been a lovely way to revisit our improbable story of buying a historic cottage in Bas St. Laurent, near the St. Lawrence River and the historic village of Le Bic and the two summers and two winters that we've spent there.

Downloading last winter's posts today was revisiting a different place, that's for sure.  Wonderful snow, cold, skiing and staying by our vintage wood stove.

Such a contrast to our late July garden and experience in Asheville.  Today, it was in the upper 80°s F.  Warm for the mountains, perhaps the new normal.  But the vegetable garden and our naturalistic landscape looks OK so far, although we're watering.

This is a photo of our neighbor, Pierre's house up from ours, in winter.
