Abundant cherries

I posted about our two cherry trees last summer, in late July, just before we left.  There was an abundant harvest last year.

This year wasn't any different, although the cherries are ripening later -- starting at least a week after they did last summer.

Happily, we're still here to harvest them.  My hands are not happy.  I'm looking forward to the arrival via Amazon.ca of the cherry pitter that processes multiple fruits with a plunger mechanism.  The OXO single cherry pitter is quite nice, but, faced with a lot of cherries, it's not going to be the best device (my hands don't like it, either...)

This afternoon's harvest (along with some wild-foraged serviceberries and local apples) turned into this crisp-ready bake.  Nice.

Ready for the oatmeal and walnut topping!
