The parallel roads above our road (and the main highway) are “rangs” in French. There’s the 1st and 2nd rang, for sure, maybe a 3rd and 4th.
We drove into the village of Le Bic last evening along the 1st rang. The views of the hayfields and distant landscapes were wonderful.

When we arrived at the village, we enjoyed the activity at Chez St. Pierre, a very upscale and accoladed restaurant before the pandemic, now pivoted to a delightful outdoor space with containers repurposed as a food and beverage places. We hope the young owners will do OK. She’s a brilliant chef, returned home with her husband, now with children, wanting to stay in Le Bic. She’s managed two summers, so hopefully so.
