Progress on a new painting
Spring is around the corner in the Southern Appalachians, so I look forward to returning to reflections on the natural world.
But today, spending a couple of hours on a new acrylic painting, in our final class this afternoon, I was happy to revisit another Quebec image, this one of our "antique" shed. The previous owner used it for his antiques, as well as displaying larger pieces in his house (now ours).
This isn't finished, but I was glad for the encouragement to sit down and mess around with paint this afternoon in a (continuing to be) unfamiliar medium - acrylic on canvas board.
I'm looking at it now, rather amazed that I painted what I did. I'll finish it tomorrow, I think, with a bit of background sky and landscape beyond. (And I'm trying to avoid critical thoughts - eg. for a botanist, that's a pretty strange tree). But, I'll correct it a bit tomorrow (the beauty of acrylic vs watercolor.)
These iPhone photos taken after dark don't reveal the color properly, making them darker and more vivid, but no matter.
This was the photo print that I was using as the subject.
You are so very talented. I adore your painting.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you, Lauren! I so tentatively returned back to art in my last third of life, starting again about a decade ago. It's been encouraging to my spirit.
DeleteOh I love this Lisa! It is just charming! I think you should do a whole book about your life in Quebec. It seems like a fairytale to me... 😊

DeleteWell, I'm working on it. There's a lot more narrative to edit, not to mention adding back photos and art!
