Returning to Jardins de Metis/Reford Gardens

What an amazing garden!  We first visited over a decade ago and became annual pass holders last summer.

Renewing our membership by mail in winter didn't result in cards being mailed to us, nor did our names appear on the annual carte list at the entrance, but we sorted it out, thanks to our TD Canada Trust account check image.

The garden just opened on the first of June, but the gardeners had clearly been busy way before that.

This is a garden full of horticultural treasures;  the beds harbor unusual places from all over the world -- interesting primulas, Saxifraga spp., peonies in abundance, not to mention all sorts of other things.

It was a beautiful day, so excellent for an outing.  We're planning to go back every 2 or 3 weeks through the summer to see the gardens unfold.  It's an excellent excursion -- a 45 minute drive with an option to go or come along the river's edge highway.

  1. We loved this garden. Did you get to see the blue Himalayan poppies? We missed them, but would love to go back when they are in bloom.

  2. We were able to see them last year — I think they were flowering around the end of July. Quite impressive!
