Prunella vulgaris

Walking in Parc du Bic this afternoon, I came across another familiar flower: Prunella vulgaris.  It's another species that's circumboreal, I think, and is now considered as native in North America, too.

It's a lovely plant, with a great medicinal history.  I took photos, thinking it would be a good subject for drawing today.

It turned out to be challenging, but I was pleased enough with my second version, trying to get more of a close-up version of the flowers and their shapes. My iPhone image doesn't represent the drawing quite accurately (it's getting darker outside and the light becomes more challenging), but it's close enough.

Just because a flower is beautiful doesn't mean it's easy to represent on paper, that's for sure.
