Adjusting to the city

Our vibrant mountain town is full of energy (and traffic).  It's a bit overwhelming.

Reading the 2022-2023 Eats and Drinks booklet that I'd picked up at the library recently - well, I was amazed again at the restaurant diversity that we have here.  Whether we have the fortitude to embrace joining in the merriment remains to be seen.

We've been to a gallery art opening downtown and stopped for drinks at the Arras hotel since we've been back. I went to an art workshop at the downtown art museum, in a nice airy space.  I had a lovely outdoor lunch last week, with a evening dinner planned with the same good friend at a new neighborhood restaurant nearby.  I have another outdoor lunch scheduled this week with a new friend around the corner at another neighborhood restaurant.

Downtown restaurants, in crowded spaces, with a lot of tourists from all sorts of places?  Well, that doesn't sound so appealing, even as I adjust to the welcome proximity of grocery stores, including Trader Joe's, less than 5 minutes away.

The mountains continue to delight with fall color, as leaves continue to fall, in a dance of autumn. The sassafras outside the upstairs window is golden turning to orange.  Beautiful.

No current photos, but here's a sassafras drawing from two years ago.
