A luminous maple

The Japanese maple across the street (and all of the others in the neighborhood, too) have been beautiful this fall, illuminated with the reds of anthocyanin pigment.  Such a gift to have in this long, extended fall.

Much colder weather is ahead, and the wind is howling outside this evening, so more leaves will be on the ground tomorrow.
