An old farmhouse table
It’s nice to use the venerable farmhouse table beyond our simple meals. It’s definitely a spot to read on my iPad or laptop, but equally fun as a place to start doing a bit of acrylic art again.
I need to figure out a better way to protect the table beyond old paper bags, Fortunately, the previous owner left behind a giant roll of brown paper — perfect as a table protector, I think, once I drag it out.
In the summer, it’s occurred to me that the old antique shed might be a great place to set up an easel, and paint there a bit, when it’s warmer than it is now. Although it’s never that “warm” here in Eastern Quebec!
I just love the thought of you painting and writing on that table! It oozes with warmth and the wisdom of aging gracefully.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking this morning about the stories that old furniture embody and was thinking this table was a work table at some point, t00, as there are patches of red paint on some of the edges.
DeleteLisa, It's possible that the red paint is ox blood, a substance often used to stain old Quebec furniture.
DeletePat, that would be interesting. It's pretty bright red, so it seems more like paint. The legs of the table are reddish, so that's a bit more information, too. Is there something about oxblood that preserves the color?
