A barred owl
A skiing excursion yesterday found us in a mixed forest, but one inhabited by a barred owl, a familiar owl from the Southeast. This owl was totally familiar with skiers and snowshoeing folks passing by. We were on a lovely trail, one which crisscrossed these managed forest.
The owl was a highlight. I didn't really get a decent photo. But it was fun to try.
My best photo of a barred owl was years ago, back in Clemson, where a pair of barred owls had established their territory and fledged at least one brood while we lived there.
